Exploring Glacier National Park by Train: A Dirt Squad Adventure

Hello, Dirt Squad family! Have you ever dreamed of exploring Glacier National Park without a car? This summer, our team made it happen—with an adventurous spirit and a set of wheels. Here's how we did it!

Journeying by Train: The Ultimate Start

Our adventure began on the rails. Boarding the train provided a relaxed, scenic start to our journey. With views that inspired awe and sparked conversation, the trip was as much about bonding as it was about reaching our destination. The rhythm of the train set the perfect tone for the adventure ahead.  Somehow the train made it feel like we had stepped back in time.  We didn't have to worry about driving, traffic or where we would stop next.  We loaded the bikes on the train and picked them up at West Glacier upon arrival.

Biking Through the Beauty of Glacier

Upon arrival, the realization hit us: we would bike everywhere. Without a car, we embraced the freedom and challenge of cycling through one of nature’s crown jewels. And the highlight? Riding Going-to-the-Sun Road on our bikes. It’s a route renowned for its breathtaking scenery and winding climbs, and experiencing it on two wheels was both thrilling and humbling.

The only noise we heard was the whir of the bike tires and the exclamation of WOW...and we seemed to say WOW at every corner.  Just when we thought it could not get any more incredible it did!

A Team Effort

Traveling with the Dirt Squad brought a unique dynamic. Every mile pedaled was a team effort, turning obstacles into shared triumphs. Whether it was an unexpected detour or a spontaneous ride up Inner Fork Road by a mountain stream, seeing bear scratches 10 feet up in the trees, the sense of camaraderie enriched every moment. 

Inviting Others to Share the Journey

One of our goals was to bring others into this experience. Along the way, we met fellow adventurers drawn to our story and enthusiasm. We invited them to join us on rides, share meals, and become part of our Dirt Squad community. Their presence added layers to our adventure, proving that every journey is better when shared.
