Building a Community Worth Coming Back To

There is a moment every cyclist remembers.

It's usually not a finish line.

It's not the biggest climb or the fastest average speed.

It's the moment someone made them feel like they belonged.

Maybe it was the rider who waited at the top of the hill instead of riding away.

Maybe it was the stranger who handed over a CO₂ cartridge after a flat tire.

Maybe it was someone who simply smiled and said,

"Come ride with us."

Those moments change people.

They changed Dirt Squad.

When we started this community, it wasn't because the cycling world needed another club.

It was because it needed another culture.

A culture where the strongest rider turns around for the newest rider.

A culture where first-time finishers are celebrated just as loudly as podium finishers.

A culture where encouragement is more valuable than ego.

That's why our mission has never changed:

Every Rider Belongs.

This summer has reminded us why that mission matters.

We're preparing for Gravel Worlds, one of the largest gravel cycling events in the world. We'll have our Dirt Squad headquarters welcoming riders, a place to recharge, relax, share stories, and celebrate every accomplishment—whether you're racing 300 miles or riding your first shakeout ride.

We'll ring the "You Belong Here" gong for riders who accomplish something meaningful. Not because they were the fastest, but because they showed courage, perseverance, and heart.

Our Do You Have What It Takes? Tour Challenge follows the same philosophy.

Yes, there are climbs to conquer.

Yes, there are jerseys to earn.

But the real victory isn't a digital badge or a completed route.

It's discovering that you're capable of more than you believed.

And discovering that you're surrounded by people who want to see you succeed.

What Belonging Looks Like

Belonging looks like waiting.

It looks like cheering.

It looks like inviting someone on their first ride.

It looks like introducing yourself to the new member in the Facebook group.

It looks like sharing your story so someone else realizes they aren't alone.

That's how communities grow.

Not through advertising.

Through people.

This Week's Challenge

Before the week is over, do one thing to help someone else feel like they belong.

Invite a friend on a ride.

Comment on a new member's post.

Offer encouragement.

Stop to help someone on the side of the road.

Celebrate someone else's victory.

Small moments create lifelong memories.

Looking Ahead

Over the next several weeks, Dirt Squad will be sharing more stories, welcoming new riders, preparing for Gravel Worlds, and continuing the Tour Challenge.

If you're already part of this community, thank you for making it what it is.

If you're new here, we're glad you found us.

And if you've been watching from the sidelines, wondering if this community is for you...

The answer is simple.

You belong here.

We'll see you on the gravel.
